Feeding the Sol

March 4, 2019

With February break fast approaching and only loose plans to chase the powder, Marcy and I were getting anxious to find a home for the week.  Eager to fill our days with overhead pow and big views, we turned our attention to weaseling onto a last minute hut trip.  Sure enough a few spots opened on Sol Mountain lodge and a few days later, we were standing at the helipad in Cherryville.

We knew little of the Monashees and Sol Mt. Terrain, but a group of our close friends ventured to Sol for a MTB get-away and came back with epic stories of majestic alpine single track.  So we figured the winter would surely deliver, and we were not disappointed.  Everyone else at the lodge had been coming back winter after winter, and we could see why. This was a 6 day fully guided and catered trips, allowing us to just show up, zone out on the skin track and get hand delivered powder laps all day.  When the sun set we were back home enjoying a 5 star meal.   Much of the most interesting terrain was a bit of a walk from the lodge, but within a few hours in all directions there was endless options from big alpine bowls, to steep chutes, to playful tree skiing.
