Miller Peak - 9.27.16
Description: Miller Peak is a gem in Teanaway that has completely fallen under the radar. After reading several descriptions, which claimed the CCW loop has a great climb but marginal descent and the CW loop had a brutal hike a bike with amazing descent we opted for the out and back to get the best of both worlds. It also allowed us to scope the descent. Late summer/ fall is a great time to take advantage if the nicer weather and fall colors. We parked at the Iron Bear TH and ascended that to the junction and made a right onto the Teanaway ridge trail that eventually met up with the County Line trail, The ride starts with a long sustained clmb broken up into two sections between the two trails, then several miles of undulating traverse guards the final hike a bike to the summit. We ran into a few motocross guys but the trail was in good shape and we moslty had it to ourselves. Its mostly bike-able until the final Miller peak spur, but is steep, sustained and loose so we did find ourselves pushing off and on. The views and descent are amazing. The final Iron Bear descent was an overdose of perfect flow with fall pastel colors flying by in a blurred frenzy.
The brush on the sides of the trail can be a battle at times. Not for the pure beginner since there is lots of loose riding, but it also never gets too technical aside from a pair of steep loose descents.
