Wissahickon

Description: Wissahickon is a park a vaguely remember growing up in Philly, but little did I know that it has excellent mountain bike trails in my Hich School's back yard. I mostly remember it as the place the "cool kids" headed on Friday nights to drink. The trails are all XC with some challenging rock gardens.  Located right in the heart of Philadelphia it adds an excellent wilderness escape, contrasting with the hustle and bustle only steps away.  Signs of the city blend in to remind you of the colonial history of Philadelphia with quaint stone bridges and an occasional cement pipe crossing( less historic and quaint). I'd be hard pressed to find another sprawling city of this size with access to such a unique and central playground. It was fairly open and easy to keep the momentum going aside from the sporadic challenging climb.
