Mt. Catherine, Snoqualmie Pass - Ski Tour

Access: Mt. Catherine is located on the southside of I-90 from the base of Hyak.  You catch the Nordic trails over a creek and then venture up some new growth before hitting the old growth.  On the north side there are a couple routes to gain the bench at about 4400' and then it's old growth to the saddle and summit. The creek crossing from the Hyak Hidden Valley side is pretty daunting - so its better to take the groomed XC run across the bridge than to try and find a crossing.

Route Description: Off the summit you can find some nice wooded runs heading north.  Catherine dropped off my radar because of a few trips around 2010 where I felt disappointed with short runs.  I did go back in '21, when trying to avoid opening terrain because of a long lasting PWL.  This time around I found what I was looking for, excellent tree runs, some steep playful bits, low angle tree skiing.  generally I did a few 500-700' runs and then a long run out.  The approach was also much shorter than I remembered and we saw only a few folks.  So this has now become a great location to get some good powder skiing in and avoid crowds during the right conditions.
